Music was once again a highlight of Blue Coat Day 2026, with students showcasing their talents throughout the day at the much-anticipated Open Mic event.
Held outdoors in the heart of the celebrations, the Open Mic stage provided a platform for performers from across the school to entertain students, staff, parents and visitors. The event featured a diverse programme of soloists, duets and bands, demonstrating the breadth of musical talent within The King’s Hospital School community.
The school’s Jazz Band opened the performances, setting the tone for an afternoon of music and entertainment. Throughout the event, students performed a variety of musical styles, with acts including Nakshatra and Naveen, Shifra and Isabelle, Seán, Scott, Réiltín, Laura, Lucy and Harry, Tristan, Rhea, Isobel, Sophie, Peter, and Louis, alongside several student bands.
A feature of this year’s Open Mic was its charitable focus, with attendees encouraged to vote for their favourite performances through donations in support of Gaza relief efforts. The initiative combined student creativity with fundraising, reflecting the spirit of community and social awareness that is central to Blue Coat Day.
The performances were met with enthusiastic support from the audience and created a vibrant atmosphere throughout the afternoon. From established performers to students taking to the stage for the first time, the event celebrated confidence, creativity and a shared love of music.
Blue Coat Day 2026 once again demonstrated the important role that music plays in school life, providing opportunities for students to perform, collaborate and express themselves. Congratulations to all who took part and helped make the Open Mic such a memorable success.
