This year has been another exceptional one for the Performing Arts at The King’s Hospital School, with record participation and outstanding results in both the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) Music and Drama Grade Examinations.
A total of 60 students undertook RIAM Music Grade Examinations across two examination days in May, while a further 13 students sat Rockschool Drum Exams, reflecting the continued growth and popularity of music performance within the school.
The Drama Department also celebrated a hugely successful examination season, with 75 students completing their RIAM Drama Grade Examinations. The examiner was highly complimentary of the standard of performances, praising the confidence, preparation and talent displayed by students throughout the examination period.
The results were outstanding. Of the students examined:
- 22 students achieved Distinctions (90% and above)
- 46 students achieved Honours (80–89%)
- 1 student achieved a Merit
Particular congratulations go to Aryell and Laura (F6), who were awarded Gold Medals for their Advanced Recital Solo Acting Examinations. Achieving a mark of over 90%, this is the highest distinction available at secondary school level and represents a remarkable accomplishment.
The success of our examination candidates reflects the vibrant Performing Arts culture at King’s Hospital.
