TY 2026 Round Up

As another incredible year draws to a close, we are delighted to share a look back at the achievements, adventures and unforgettable experiences of our Transition Year students.

There is simply no way to fully capture the breadth of activities TY 2026 has been involved in over the past year. At Tuesday evening’s Festival of Learning, students spoke passionately for two straight hours about everything they had experienced — and still there was so much left unsaid. Their enthusiasm, positivity and willingness to embrace every opportunity has defined this remarkable group from start to finish.

Here are just some of the highlights of the year in numbers:

  • 90 students became Level 1 qualified Baristas ☕
  • 24 students earned their NPLQ Lifeguard qualification 🛟
  • 12 students qualified as TEFL teachers 📑
  • 8 different charities supported 💖
  • €10,000 approximately raised by TY 2026 for charity
  • 1kg of ice-cream/pizza consumed per person in Italy 🍕🍦

While these figures are impressive, they only tell part of the story. Throughout the year, TY students immersed themselves in every aspect of school life with characteristic energy and curiosity. Whether through fundraising, travel, leadership opportunities, qualifications, community outreach or creative projects, they consistently stepped forward with confidence and generosity.

They have made the most of every opportunity presented to them — and often created new ones for themselves. They are an exceptional group of young people and a credit to our entire school community. As was said at the Festival of Learning, they are the future leaders of our school and will be a very tough act to follow.

We are incredibly lucky to have them.

To those families leaving us this year, we wish you every happiness and success in the future. To all our students and families, have a wonderful summer and take care.

And finally, in the words of TY Coordinator Ms Malcolm:
“Spoiler alert: I am going to miss them terribly.”
