Transition Year students from The King’s Hospital School recently completed an exciting and rewarding Gaisce hike and camping trip in Thomastown, CO. Kilkenn, enjoying two days of adventure, teamwork and outdoor challenge.
Day 1 saw students take to the water for a kayaking experience along the scenic River Barrow. The activity provided a fun and accessible introduction to paddling, with all students—regardless of prior experience—able to take part and enjoy the journey.
On Day 2, the group tackled the climb of Brandon Hill, taking in spectacular views and testing their endurance as part of their Gaisce challenge. The hike marked a fitting highlight to a memorable trip, with students demonstrating resilience, teamwork and determination throughout.
The school extends its thanks to the activity providers for hosting such an engaging experience and for supporting students on their Gaisce journey. Opportunities such as these play a vital role in encouraging personal development, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors.
Well done to all involved on a fantastic achievement.
