Denim for Dementia Raises €5,000
Staff at The King’s Hospital School recently came together in a wonderful show of community spirit to support fundraising efforts for The Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
The fundraising initiative, which included a popular Denim Day, saw staff contribute generously while enjoying a fantastic spread of homemade treats during Friday morning break. Thanks to the time and effort of those who baked and organised refreshments, the staffroom was filled with an impressive variety of cakes and treats that helped create a warm and supportive atmosphere for the cause.
The event formed part of a wider fundraising effort organised by Susan Leahy, with several activities contributing to the total raised. Staff also took part in a refreshing sea dip at the Forty Foot, where colleagues gathered to support the brave dippers and keep towels at the ready.
The morning was made even more enjoyable with breaktime music from Dave, while Ray helped organise a staff dinner as part of the fundraising efforts. Special thanks were also extended to Siobhán Baron, the tea ladies and the kitchen team for their support, including preparing a lovely basket and flasks of hot drinks.
A prize for one of the sea dippers was generously donated by Jos Chocolate, the business run by the husband of KH staff member Sallyann. The prize was won by Fiona Ryan, adding an extra moment of celebration to the day.
Thanks to the generosity of staff and parents across the school, the fundraising campaign raised €5,000, successfully reaching its target. The initiative reflected the strong sense of community at KH, with staff coming together once again to support a cause that has touched many families and loved ones.
The school community is proud of the collective effort and grateful to everyone who contributed their time, energy and generosity to support this important cause.
