F2 Girls Make History in GAA Fixture

The King’s Hospital School Form 2 Girls GAA team recently travelled to Wilson’s Hospital School for an away fixture, marking an important moment in the school’s sporting history as the first girls’ team from KH to play a Gaelic Football match.

The occasion added another chapter to the school’s GAA story, with the very first Gaelic Football match played by The King’s Hospital taking place in 1971 against Belvedere College. More than 50 years later, a repeat fixture against Belvedere was played in May 2022. On both occasions, Belvedere College emerged victorious.

Although the Form 2 girls were unfortunately defeated in their match against Wilson’s Hospital School, the team represented KH with great determination, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the game.

This historic fixture was an important milestone for girls’ sport at KH and a proud moment for everyone involved. Well done to all the players for their commitment, resilience and for representing the school so positively.
