The King’s Hospital School Senior Rugby Team travelled to Cork from 23rd –25th September for a pre-season tour, combining intensive rugby training, fitness sessions and team-building activities ahead of the new season.
The tour provided a valuable opportunity for the squad to strengthen their teamwork, develop their fitness and prepare for the challenges of the season ahead.
The team travelled to Cork on Wednesday beginning their tour with gym and unit sessions at the Centre of Excellence (COE), followed by a pool session and a team meeting in the evening.
Thursday was a busy day of preparation, with a morning gym session followed by attacking drills on the astro pitch and a conditioning session. After lunch, the squad enjoyed a change of pace with an afternoon at Zipit, taking on the treetop adventure courses and ziplining activities. The day concluded with another pool session and an evening team meeting.
On Friday, the focus returned to the pitch, where the players worked through defensive drills, unit practice and attack-versus-defence scenarios. These sessions allowed the squad to put their preparation into practice and refine their approach ahead of the new season.
Alongside the rugby programme, the tour gave the players valuable time to connect away from the classroom and pitch. Shared meals, team meetings and activities helped strengthen relationships across the squad and build a positive team culture.
The highlight of the trip was the combination of high-quality rugby preparation and the opportunity to take on new challenges together at Zipit.
The Senior Rugby Team returned to KH having benefited from an action-packed few days of training, fitness and team-building, ready to take on the season ahead.
