CBA Fest 2026

The King’s Hospital School recently hosted its annual CBA Fest, giving Form 3 students the opportunity to showcase their projects and share their experiences with Form 2 students preparing to undertake their own projects this year.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for students to celebrate their work, reflect on what they had learned and offer practical advice to younger students as they prepared for this important part of their Junior Cycle journey.

A Classroom-Based Assessment (CBA) is an assessment completed by students as part of the Junior Cycle programme. CBAs allow students to demonstrate their learning through a range of projects, presentations and practical tasks, depending on the subject.

They give students the opportunity to apply their knowledge, develop important skills such as research, communication and critical thinking, and demonstrate their understanding beyond traditional written examinations.

At CBA Fest, Form 3 students presented their projects to Form 2 students, sharing insights into their experiences and offering helpful tips on how to approach their own CBAs.

By hearing directly from students who had already completed the process, Form 2 students gained a better understanding of what to expect and how to prepare for their upcoming projects.

The event also celebrated the creativity, effort and learning demonstrated by Form 3 throughout their CBA work, while encouraging collaboration and peer support across year groups.

A special thank you to Ms Geraghty and Ms O’Flaherty for organising such an engaging and inspiring event and for supporting our students throughout their learning journey.

CBA Fest was a fantastic example of students learning from one another and sharing their experiences to help others succeed.
