The KH choir is set to participate in a collaborative project called Ár nAmhrán/Our Anthem as part of the EU50 programme celebrating Ireland’s 50-year membership of the European Union.
This initiative, led by the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Education, and the Royal Irish Academy of Music, aims to celebrate the cultural and linguistic diversity of Europe by providing an opportunity for schools and students to learn and perform Beethoven’s Ode to Joy, the EU Anthem.
The project will culminate in live performances of the anthem in schools or local music performance education settings around Europe Day.
This inclusive project offers different musical arrangements and versions for singing in Irish, English, German, and Ukrainian.
The initiative aims to re-emphasize the role the EU plays in the lives of European citizens and the cultural diversity of Europe.
