The King’s Hospital School is celebrating a fantastic equestrian achievement after student Abigail secured a major victory at the Dublin Horse Show 2026, one of Ireland’s most prestigious equestrian events.
Competing at the renowned RDS Dublin Horse Show, Abigail delivered an outstanding performance against a strong field of talented riders, demonstrating exceptional skill, focus and determination throughout the competition.
Riding Hogan The Brave, Abigail won the 8–15-Year-Old Connemara Performance Hunter Class in Ring 2. The grey gelding, by Silver Shadow (CP) x Grange Merlin Surf (CP), was bred by Avril Hobson and is owned by Graham Kenny. The partnership impressed throughout the class to secure the prestigious title.
The Dublin Horse Show is widely regarded as a highlight of the Irish equestrian calendar, attracting competitors from across Ireland and beyond. To win at such a high-profile event is a remarkable accomplishment for any young rider and reflects the dedication, hard work and commitment that Abigail has invested in her sport.
Speaking after her win, Abigail reflected on what the achievement meant to her and the dedication required to compete successfully at this level. Equestrian sport demands not only technical riding ability but also patience, resilience, discipline and a strong partnership between horse and rider.
Everyone at The King’s Hospital School is immensely proud of Abigail’s success. Her achievement is a wonderful example of how KH students continue to excel both inside and outside the classroom, pursuing their passions with determination and ambition.
At The King’s Hospital School, we are committed to encouraging students to pursue excellence across a wide range of activities, including sport, music, performing arts, leadership and equestrian competition. Achievements such as this highlight the importance of supporting students in developing their talents and ambitions beyond school life.
Abigail’s victory at the 2026 Dublin Horse Show is an inspiration to other young riders in the school community and a reminder of what can be achieved through commitment, perseverance and passion.
We congratulate Abigail on this outstanding success with Hogan The Brave and look forward to following their future achievements in equestrian sport.
