The King’s Hospital School was thrilled to welcome members of the England Men’s Hockey Team to campus on Tuesday, December 9th — an inspiring and memorable experience for our young athletes.
The visit coincided with an exciting milestone for Irish hockey, as Pro League Hockey came to the National Sports Campus in Abbottstown for the first time. In advance of the event, 56 of our F1 and F2 girls had purchased tickets to attend the Ireland vs Belgium match on December 10th, building great anticipation across the school.
On the day of the visit, all KH hockey players were invited to meet the England squad in the Wilson Wright Hall. Students left class early to take part, eager to hear from professional athletes competing at the highest level of the sport. The players generously shared insights into training, teamwork and life as international competitors, offering a unique learning opportunity for everyone present.
After the meet-and-greet, the England players moved to the Gibson Astro Pitch, where they observed and interacted with our F1 boys and Junior boys during their training session from 4pm to 5pm. For many of our young players, this was a highlight of the year — a chance to learn, ask questions and train in the presence of world-class athletes.
The visit created a fantastic buzz throughout the school and reinforced KH’s strong commitment to providing high-quality sporting experiences for our students.
