KH Welcomes, Ailbhe Smyth

Ailbhe Smyth is an academic, feminist and LGBTQ campaigner.
She has been an influential figure in social justice activism in Ireland for many years including playing leading roles in both the Repeal the 8th and Marriage Equality Campaigns. She was also the founding director of the Women’s Studies department at UCD and has worked with many charities including Women’s Aid and Age Action and we were absolutely thrilled to have Ailbhe Smyth join us in the Harden Library last week.
Her story of overcoming prejudices and fighting for inclusion and equal rights for all is truly inspiring.
With some great participation and questions from the students, everyone in attendance was moved by her courage and determination.
Thanks to the Diversity & Inclusion Committee Emma, Rebecca, and Clinton for organising and to Ailbhe for her remarkable work, we are thankful for her visit.
