It has been a hugely busy and exciting term across school sport, with fantastic participation and achievements in every area.
Hockey Highlights đ
Hockey has been thriving, with an incredible 100 fixtures played so far this term across boysâ and girlsâ teams. A standout moment came on December 3rd, when we played our first Senior B Boysâ hockey match in over a decade, marking a major milestone for the programme.
Our Senior Boys impressed at the All-Ireland Schools Tournament, while the Form 1 Boysâ 8-a-side tournaments proved such a success that theyâll return next year. Off the pitch, students enjoyed memorable experiences at the International PRO League in Dublin and a visit from the England Menâs team. The Girlsâ Senior B team also enjoyed a strong term, winning four of five matches and we look forward to hosting the Schools Indoor Hockey Tournament in January.
Rugby Action đ
The Senior Boysâ rugby team made a welcome return to Division 1A, narrowly missing out in the playoffs and now setting sights on the Vinnie Murray Cup. Despite injury setbacks, junior teams showed resilience and are building momentum for upcoming competitions.
A highlight off the field saw 70 students travel to Croke Park to support Leinster and preparations are well underway for the Caleb Powell Mini Rugby Festival in April.
Basketball Buzz đ
Our Senior Girlsâ basketball team remained unbeaten and reached the Area Cup semi-final, while the Junior Boys powered their way into the County Plate final. Plenty more league action begins in the New Year.
Athletics Achievements đââď¸
Strong performances marked the cross-country season, with Abigail Farrell (F6) crowned Senior Girlsâ Leinster Indoor Champion. Preparations are underway for our next major XC events in January.
Badminton, Equestrian & Rowing đŁââď¸
Badminton teams are well placed for playoff qualification, while our Equestrian team claimed first place at the TRI Qualifier Event. Rowing continues to grow rapidly, with a brilliant seven medals won at the Provincial Indoor Championships in UL.
Swimming Success đââď¸
Our Swim Squad made history by winning the Interschools Gala Trophy for the first time, finishing more than 150 points clear of second place.
Gaisce đ
Finally, congratulations to the 60 students who completed their Gaisce Hike and Camp in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, showing great determination and teamwork.
A fantastic term of sport â well done to all students and staff involved!
