From August to December 2025, the Weekend Boarding Programme offered a vibrant and memorable experience for 141 full-time boarding students, supported by 16 dedicated staff members.
Students enjoyed a wide variety of trips and activities throughout the term, travelling to destinations such as Belfast, Galway, Bray, Glendalough, Howth, Smithfield and Dublin city centre. Weekends were filled with bowling, ice skating, hiking, shopping, golfing, rock climbing, laser tag, virtual reality experiences, cinema trips and seasonal events—including the ever-popular “grannies go bowling” Halloween celebration.
Cooking sessions were a highlight, with students preparing dishes from different cultures such as Varenyky for Ukrainian Independence Day, gazpacho, tacos, arepas and plenty of chocolate treats. Students also took part in charity events, including fun runs in support of the Dublin Simon Community.
The term included festive outings to Christmas markets in Galway and Smithfield, a Christmas table quiz, indoor sports tournaments and a special visit from Santa. The programme concluded with an ice-skating trip in Blanchardstown.
The Weekend Boarding Programme continued to play an important role in boarding life, providing students with opportunities for friendship, fun and meaningful shared experiences beyond the classroom.
