We are proud to share that The King’s Hospital School has once again retained its Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) Centre of Excellence status following our latest annual review.
The IQM Assessor praised our school as “a national leader in inclusive practice,” noting that inclusion at KH is “not by accident or compliance—it is inclusion by design.” This recognition reflects our whole-school commitment to ensuring that every student feels seen, safe, supported, and celebrated.
Highlights from the report include:
-
Our faith-based ethos was described as “a lived expression of values that welcome and embrace,” offering a place of belonging for all—of all faiths and none.
-
The school’s work on LGBTQ+ inclusion, race equality, and student voice was noted as “exceptional” and “strategic,” creating a culture “where difference is not merely tolerated but celebrated.”
-
Our peer mentoring programme and recognition of student leadership were highlighted as powerful examples of how kindness and support are embedded in school life.
-
The Headmaster’s focus on rewarding effort over perfection was described as “a huge win,” helping students see that “best in class” is not the goal—giving your best is.
-
Parents were commended for being “meaningfully involved” in shaping inclusive practice through open, compassionate communication and strong home–school partnerships.
One especially heartening moment shared in the review was a recent Parent Association thank-you event, where student mentors were honoured with hot chocolate and donuts. The Assessor called it a “joy-filled celebration” and “a reminder that inclusion is not just strategic here—it is personal, relational, and joyfully celebrated.”
We thank all our staff, students, and parents for continuing to champion a culture of inclusion. As the report states, “This is a school where every young person belongs.”
We look forward to building on this foundation in the year ahead with renewed focus on differentiation, student voice, and targeted SEN support.
