On Wednesday, The King’s Hospital School welcomed a delegation of seven former Headteachers, now serving in advisory roles with the Ministry of Education in Singapore. Their visit formed part of a research initiative exploring how elements of Transition Year (TY) might be incorporated into the Singaporean education system. The group spent time learning about KH’s distinctive TY programme and the value it brings to students’ development, independence and confidence.
TY students represented the school with maturity and enthusiasm, delivering insightful presentations of their portfolios and sharing their experiences across the Performing Arts and Sports strands. They highlighted the creative, collaborative and leadership opportunities available, as well as the wide range of workshops, trips and co-curricular activities beyond portfolio classes.
The Ministry of Education visitors showed great interest in the structure and ethos of the KH TY programme, particularly its emphasis on choice, exploration and student-led learning. It was a valuable exchange of ideas and an exciting opportunity to showcase the strengths of TY at The King’s Hospital School.
We are proud of our students for representing the school so well and grateful to the Singapore delegation for their visit and engagement throughout the day.
