The newly refurbished Science Rooms became fully operational on Tuesday, marking the completion of Phase 1 of the school’s Science and Art refurbishment project. These state-of-the-art learning spaces were designed to future-proof our facilities as true 21st-century classrooms, equipped with the latest technological advancements.
The refurbishment included the removal of gas infrastructure, the installation of heating in the roof, improved storage solutions and redesigned practical work areas. The result was a decluttered, modern layout that significantly enhanced both teaching and learning experiences.
In developing the new design, the school took inspiration from contemporary tertiary Science environments. Staff visited TU Dublin’s recently upgraded laboratories to ensure that our facilities aligned with higher-education standards. The intention throughout was to create high-quality Science rooms that would help students transition seamlessly from second-level to third-level study in terms of resourcing and overall experience.
The transformation from the previous rooms to the new spaces was remarkable, and staff and students alike were delighted to see the project come to fruition. Planning for Phase 2 is now scheduled to begin in the coming half term.
The school extended its thanks to students and families for their patience and support during the refurbishment process.
