From badminton to basketball, rugby to hockey, our students have proven that hard work and dedication lead to success. Here’s a roundup of the achievements so far.
🏸 Badminton: Smashing Success in Leinster Competitions
This season, our badminton teams have set the bar high. We’ve entered five boys’ teams and three girls’ teams into Leinster competitions. Among them, the Senior A and B Boys’ teams have made it to the quarter-finals of their league, with matches scheduled to take place this Thursday in Baldoyle. With talent and preparation on their side, our teams are poised to make an impressive run.
🏀 Basketball: Dominating the Court
Our basketball teams have been on fire this season, achieving exceptional results:
- Senior Boys’ Team: Secured places in the semi-finals of both the league and All-Ireland Cup competitions.
- Senior A Girls’ Team: Also advanced to the semi-finals of their league and All-Ireland Cup competitions.
- Junior A Girls’ Team: Reached the final of their Regional competition and are eagerly preparing for the All-Ireland playoffs in January.
These outstanding achievements reflect the unwavering dedication of our players and coaches.
🏉 Rugby: Power and Precision on the Pitch
Our Senior A Boys’ rugby team has earned a spot in the Leinster League semi-finals, showcasing their strength and strategy. Upcoming cup matches promise to bring more excitement:
- Vinnie Murray Cup: The SCT will play the winner of CBC Monkstown and St Patrick’s Classical School at Energia Park on January 15th.
- Fr Godfrey Cup: The JCT will face Skerries CC at Energia Park on January 9th.
Both matches kick off at 1:15 PM. Our players are gearing up for thrilling performances, and we can’t wait to cheer them on.
🏑 Hockey: Striking Excellence on the Field
Our hockey teams continue to deliver impressive results:
- Senior A Girls: With wins against Templecarrig, Holy Child, and Rathdown, they are second in the Premier Division with two games left to play.
- Senior A Boys: Currently third in Division 1, they’ve also triumphed in the All-Ireland Schools Tournament, which we co-hosted in October.
Both teams recently returned from an inspiring tour to Benalmadena Hockey Club in Spain, where they played against local teams and honed their skills on an international stage.
🏅 National Indoor Rowing Championships: A Wave of Achievements
The King’s Hospital School proudly celebrates the incredible performances of our students at the National Indoor Rowing Championships, where they demonstrated outstanding skill, strength, and determination against tough competition:
- Matthew (Form 2): 🥇 Double Gold in the J13 category, topping the 3-Minute event (48 competitors) and the 500m event (54 competitors)!
- Sean (Form 4): 🥈 Silver in the J16 500m event, finishing just one second behind the winner in a competitive field of 30 rowers.
- Petro: Achieved 4th place in the MJ16 500m event out of 30 competitors, narrowly missing the podium.
- Clara: Secured 4th place in the WJ15 500m event, competing against 15 talented rowers.
- Freiderike: Earned 4th place in the 5-Minute event, showcasing her stamina in a field of 20 competitors.

Swimming: Making Waves
Congratulations to our swim team for their double victory, defeating Terenure and Mount Anville in the opening Leinster Schools Galas. A strong start to the season!
