SciFest 2025 Brings Excitement to KH

This week, we celebrated @scifest4stem 2025 at our school, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication of our students. A special thanks to our esteemed judges, including Sheila Porter, SciFest founder, who faced the challenging task of selecting winners from an outstanding array of projects.

Students demonstrated their creativity and technical skills, making excellent use of technology to present their work. We commend all participants for their hard work and dedication, and a big thank you to our staff for fostering a passion for science and innovation.

Congratulations to our prize winners, with the winning project advancing to the next stage of the SciFest competition:

Best Project: ‘How Different Food Combinations Affect Digestion’ by Lily McDonagh. Lily will proudly represent our school at the next level of the SciFest competition, and we wish her the best of luck!

Runner Up: ‘Does Acidity and Density of Liquids Affect Conductivity of Electricity?’ by Teegan Taylor, Veronica Beghiu, and Olga Pienkowska.

Physics Award: ‘Shape of Aeroplanes’ by Matthew Cameron, Liam Twomey, and Ruan O’Carroll.

Mallinckrodt STEM Excellence Award: ‘Do Newer Phones Charge Faster?’ by Louis Masterson and Kenny.

Environmental Award: ‘Soil Moisture Test’ by Harry Greene and Adam UaBruadair.

While on the subject of science, we are also thrilled to share that Maura Moore McCune has been recognized as one of Yale’s Science and Engineering Association Award winners for 2024/25. This prestigious recognition is a testament to Maura’s exceptional talent, hard work, and dedication.
