A Historic Evening: Chapel Organ Dedication at The King’s Hospital School
Last week marked a truly momentous occasion in the life of The King’s Hospital School, as the entire school community came together to celebrate the dedication of our newly restored chapel organ. This remarkable instrument, now fully revitalised, stands as a testament to our school’s rich musical and spiritual heritage that spans over 355 years.
The dedication service was led by the Most Revd Dr Michael Jackson, Archbishop of Dublin, and was filled with reverence, reflection, and rejoicing. The Chapel Choir, accompanied by Simon Harden on the newly restored organ, provided moving musical interludes that lifted the spirits of all in attendance. The evening culminated in a stunning recital by David Leigh, whose performance showcased the full beauty and expressive range of the instrument.
This restoration is more than a renovation—it is a renewal of the powerful connection between music and worship at KH. Whether accompanying hymns, enhancing choral performances, or offering moments of quiet reflection, the chapel organ will continue to enrich the lives of our students and community for generations to come.
We extend our deepest thanks to all those who contributed to this incredible project. Your support has ensured that our musical tradition continues to thrive in harmony with our school’s values.
