The Annual Form 2 SciFest was held in the school theatre today and visited by other students, staff, and guest judges.
We are one of 5 schools that piloted the SciFest School programme in 2011. Congrats to teacher Ciaran O’Connor who has been organising the fair in the school since 2011 and encouraging all the students to participate in a science project early on, to pique their interest in the subject, and learn from each other.
Well done to all the entrants today, who really enjoyed showcasing their ideas with staff, students, and judges.
Enoch Tsang & James Tang won first prize for an investigation into the game Rock Paper Scissors
Blain Workineh won 2nd prize for her project on rusty nails
There were runner-up prizes for highly commended projects and a communications award.
Thank you to Catherine from SciFest for judging. She was very impressed with the quality and diversity of the projects and how the students communicated them to the judges. She hopes many will now enter in SciFest College competition, regionally and nationally, and build on the success of last year’s From 2 entrants, who did very well in the competition.
