Congratulations to Form 6 student Brannan and TY student Lauren, who were finalists at the national Maths Week Ireland competition this year.
They were presented with their awards today by Minister for Education Norma Foley – TD at a ceremony in the beautiful new TU Dublin / OT Bhaile Átha Cliath Campus at Grangegorman, which saw students of all ages from all over Ireland acknowledged for their creativeness in making maths accessible and fun for all.
The finalists were also gifted a mounted copy of their poster, which will no doubt be hung in many a proud teacher’s classroom.
Brannan’s entry in the U19 category was captioned ‘Calculus at the beach’, and featured himself and his younger brother playing volleyball in the ocean.
Lauren’s entry in the project category was titled ‘Maths in Ballet’, which in addition to maths is also her passion.
Huge thanks to Maths Teacher Orla Cummins for encouraging the students to think outside the box and enter these competitions.
