The TY Performing Arts students traveled to Cork on Monday morning to compete in the Finals of The Briey Gap All Ireland Drama Festival in both the Light Entertainment category and the TY Play category in The Everyman Theatre.
On Monday, they performed a 15-minute medley from the musical ‘Wicked’ in the Light Entertainment category.
They were asked to perform a section of the piece in the evening Gala Concert and were awarded a Special Adjudicators award.
On Tuesday they performed their original play ‘5 Star Rating’ (25 minutes long) in the TY Play category. On the day, there were 15 schools competing.
At 7 pm there was an award ceremony hosted by the Lord Mayor of Cork and Pop star Jake Carter and we won Best Individual Performer Lauren Powell, Best Director, and 1st place overall winners with €500 prizemoney.
The full auditorium sang ‘We are the Champions’ to the girls as they lifted their trophies onstage.
Mr. Kelly, Mr. Hickey, and Ms. O’Reilly are super proud of every single one of them.
