Ailbhe Smyth is an academic and a feminist and LGBTQ campaigner. She has been an influential figure in social justice activism in Ireland for many years including playing leading roles in both the Repeal the 8th and Marriage Equality Campaigns. She was also the founding director of the Women’s Studies department in UCD and has worked with many charities including Women’s Aid and Age Action.
