TY Performing Arts Visit London

Transition Year Performing Arts students recently enjoyed an unforgettable two-day trip to London, immersing themselves in the world of theatre and performance. Accompanied by Ms O’Reilly and Mr Kelly, the group departed early on Wednesday, 22nd October, travelling from Dublin to the heart of London for a jam-packed itinerary of culture, sightseeing and stage magic.

After checking in at the City Sleeper at Royal National Hotel, students had time to explore the bustling city centre before heading to the Lyric Theatre for an evening performance of Hadestown. The group were captivated by the show’s stunning music and choreography — and even had the opportunity to meet some of the cast afterwards, gaining valuable insights into the life of a professional performer.

Thursday brought more adventure, with breakfast at the hotel followed by sightseeing around London and a trip on the famous Hop-On, Hop-Off bus. The highlight of the afternoon was a matinee performance of Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre. Once again, students were thrilled to meet members of the cast after the show, asking questions about stagecraft, auditions and life in the West End.

The trip was both educational and inspiring, offering students a firsthand experience of London’s vibrant theatre scene — a perfect complement to their Performing Arts studies.
