Christmas is an exceptionally busy time for the Chapel Choir, Orchestra and Jazz Band. This year we managed to get some video snippets of their performances. You can find them on YouTube by clicking on the links below. A huge note of appreciation must go to the staff of our Music Department who encourage and nurture our music students all year round. A special thanks this time of the year to Helen Roycroft, Miriam Wright and Graham Walsh who take this amazing show on the road.
Chapel Christmas Carol Service
On Sunday last we were treated to a wonderful Christmas Carol service in the KH chapel and it truly was a magical evening, getting everyone into the Christmas spirit. Graham Walsh prepared some new Christmas arrangements for the Orchestra which were beautifully executed by all the musicians; staff and students. The Choir was sounding magnificent with some beautiful solos by students.

The students then headed off to Stewarts Hospital in Palmerstown for their annual Christmas concert and it turned into a great sing-a-long with the staff and service users. The King's Hospital has been performing annually at Stewarts since it moved to Palmerstown, almost 50 years ago.
Black Santa Sit Out St Annes Church
On Wednesday the senior members of the Choir sang at the 2017 Black Santa Sit Out. The Black Santa sit out is modelled on a similar appeal, which has been run by successive Deans of St Anne's Cathedral in Belfast for many years. It became know as the Black Santa appeal because of the long heavy black cloaks worn by the clergy to keep out the cold. Among the charities to benefit from the appeal are Trust, The Salvation Army, The Simon Community and the Peter McVerry Trust, all of which work with the homeless.

For many years The King's Hospital Choir and Orchestra have been performing in the magnificent atrium at our neighbours, The Hermitage Clinic. This year' performance on Thursday was warmly appreciated by all the staff, patients and visitors and this year it was filmed and played live in patients rooms, which was very special for those confined to bed.
