Mon 18th May 2015

It's been a very busy week in The King's Hospital. It was the last week of school for the class of 2015. They entertained us every morning in chapel with performances for a wide variety of students. The week was ended with the valedictory celebrations with a chapel service and a meal with family and staff in attendance. Mr O'Connor took his 6th year chemistry class to the Java Republic factory. Past pupil and CEO David McKernan explained the whole process and talked about his experience of setting up a business. A group of weekend boarders went on a Paddy Wagon tour of the west of Ireland, visiting the cliffs of Moher and the burren. On Tuesday the 12th a group of students participated in Scifest. Ben Buller & Kevin Marco came runner up in the Junior Physics & Maths Category with "The Trebuchet". Jenny Clements & David Wood came runner up in the Junior Technology category and they also took home the Intel Ireland award with their project "Find my Car". Dylan Bagnall from form 1 followed up his success in the Young scientist with 1st Place in the Junior Social and Psychological sciences category, runner up in the Abbolt sponsored Best project award and the ITT sponsored Overall Runner up of the entire Scifest with his project "Rate of perceived exertion: does it depend on the gym machine used and the sport teenagers play?".
