The pastoral care provided at The King’s Hospital seeks to foster the social and emotional well-being of all students in its charge, taking into account the particular needs of both boys and girls, and of both day and boarding pupils.
In their aspiration to promote growth, trust, positive relationships, self-esteem and personal responsibility among the pupils, the Headmaster, Housemasters, Housemistresses, Chaplain, Guidance Counsellors and Medical Staff endeavour to act ‘in loco parentis’, in consultation with parents and guardians. In doing so, they are assisted by Prefects and Mentors, chosen from Forms 5 and 6, as well as The Student Council.
They seek to ensure that students, both individually and collectively, within the whole school community, gain a sense of safety, belonging and regard for self and others.

Health & Wellbeing
Professional medical personnel provide care for all the students, twenty four hours a day, with a nurse always on duty and a local doctor who holds a clinic twice a week, as well as making housecalls.

Should a pupil need help on a specific matter, he or she can seek advice from the Guidance Counsellors, School Counsellor, Chaplain, Housemasters, Housemistresses or senior staff members who have considerable counselling experience and can deal with issues in a confidential and compassionate manner. A Housekeeper oversees the general smooth running of areas such as the laundry, cleaning staff and any other issues relating to maintenance and tidiness.
Housekeeper: Kathleen Boland
A professional catering company, Sodexo, cooks fresh and healthy meals daily for the students, in the school kitchen. There is always a hot meal served at lunch with a vegetarian option and the salad bar for a lighter appetite.
