On Friday March 9th the 11th Model Council of the European Union sat in Dublin Castle. Schools from all over the country take part in this annual debating competition hosted by the European Commission Representation in Ireland. Each school is given a Member State to represent at the Council and a motion for the debate. Schools are encouraged to research their country's position and adopt that position throughout the debate. This year we were representing Denmark, debating a White Paper on the Future of Europe and our team comprised Gavin Walsh, Lizzie Connor and Victoria Abimbola. Following a day of heated debate and intense negotiations between Member States the competition was won by Ireland - represented by Maynooth Post Primary School.
