Minor Boys won the first piece of silverware for a number of years after defeating Newpark Comprehensive 3-1 on Wednesday 24 February. The game was played at a neutral venue (Wesley College) on a beautiful spring afternoon. KH took the lead on 10 minutes as Matthew Sweetnam scored, after an excellent strike from the top of the circle. Newpark responded well and got an equaliser 2 minutes from HT to leave the teams level at the break. A great start to the 2nd half by KH saw them regain the lead again after a scintillating move involving Lucas Rodriguez, scored by Brooklyn Mapfumo. Again, Newpark responded strongly, but a 3rd goal from 1st year Rory Govan 5 minutes from time, sealed the first boys win in any league final for a number of years. The full time whistle was greeted with a loud cheer from a number of KH parents who travelled to support the team. No rest for the minors as they take on St Andrews in the cup semi final next Wednesday 2nd March in Booterstown. Well done boys!
