Inaugural Great Reads Awards

Fri 17th Feb 2017

KH was delighted to have the opportunity to host the inaugaral Great Reads Awards. This is an initative by the School Library Association of Ireland recognizing first time authors of Young Adult Fiction. The idea is to get the students in Irish Secondary Schools to feel a connection to the Authors by voting for them.

The awards were hosted by welll know Author Paul Howard more well know for his alter ego, Ross O'Carroll-Kelly. The awards were attended by five of the shortlisted authors and the winners, who were also in attendance to receive their prizes were:

Junior Category: Moira Fowley-Doyle for The Accident Season

Senior Category: Lisa Williamson for The Art of Being Normal

Representative students from many schools came along for the morning with their school librarians and were treated to a great talk from Paul Howard, the winning authors, and some of the runner up authors as well. The event went off flawlessly and a huge well done to our Librarian Joan Kelly and all her student literary critics and helpers on the day.
